Oh the Blue Lagoon...

What a super awesome surreal place to spend my 40th birthday!

Lounging around in 100 degree water, hiding from the freezing temperature above (although the high daytime temp WAS above freezing and it was a beautiful cloudless day) with winds blowing 10-15 mph across the water. Absolutely relaxing and delightful. Spending it with Dan made it all the more special, second only to if all of you were here too (okay, all of you? That'd be one heck of a party...)








Dan treated me to a very special three-course birthday dinner at the Lava Restaurant on premises. The fanciness belied only by our fellow diners in their terrycloth robes. We would have been too if we didn't need to catch the bus thereafter but rather were headed back into the lagoon.



We are much more thrilled than we look - yes, we are getting a little tired at this point!

Been up for 29 hours and counting...

I had an amazing awesome birthday day today.

I'll tell ya about it tomorrow, lol.

Time to relax

After hours and hours of travel, time to relax in a geo-thermal spa.

Money!

Look at this money! It's called the Krona. And that hat in the top picture...LOL. I gotta buy some of those for the people back home.

Safe and sound

We arrived at 6:45 am local (10:45 pm our time) after a 7 hrs and 15 mins or so flight... And exited straight onto the tarmac! It is freezing out with a layer snow on the ground. We reached down to grab some snow, it was very fluffy.  Awesome!! We're here!!

It has begun!

On our way to Iceland, ready for about 12 hours of travel. Hmmm, did I leave the water on?

Six days away...

So I'm getting my hair done, making sure to do it just before the trip. I'm under the dryer at the moment actually.

Packing has begun. Going well, except I am a tad overwhelmed by the bulkiness of our snow gear. I hope we need it, for all the cost and effort involved.

A bit of last minute shopping on Amazon... To be expected, especially from me. :) A few things arriving tomorrow and Monday. However, I expect to be mostly packed by the end if the weekend. We'll see!
