In Iceland, there is one road around the island and it's called the Ring Road. It's barely two car widths wide - one for each direction - and no shoulders. It's bigger in places, closer to the city, but most of it is like this, even to the most highly trafficked tourist areas. Yet it all works out. Just kinda interesting!
